That’s all you can ask for.”

Ana Paula Valdes completed the sweep for the Clemson-bound golfers. She won for the second consecutive year, defeating Mount Pleasant’s Annika Bovender with a par on the first playoff hole.

Valdes finished at 5-over-par 148. She needed steely strokes to save par the final two times she played the 18th.

“I already experienced this last year and the pressure and everything,” said Valdes, a junior at Heritage Academy who has committed to the Tigers. “I just try to stay calm and remember how it worked out last year.”

Before the big bunker shot, Orischak talked with another player who said he had trouble even keeping his ball on the green from where Nimmer was in the trap.

But Orischak, from his perch near the clubhouse, nonetheless predicted Nimmer’s heroics. Nimmer had similarly predicted Orischak would jar a 50-foot putt to join a three-man playoff at the Blade Junior Golf Classic in July.

Neither won that event, but this time the competition was head-to-head.

While Nimmer hit balls on the range in preparation for the playoff, his father told him he appeared too pumped up after the big birdie on 18. He counseled him to slow everything down and swing easy.

Nimmer was left with a longer approach than Orischak in the playoff, 141 yards of carry over water with the wind in his face. He dropped it 4 feet from the flag. Orischak lipped his birdie try from about 18 feet.

“I don’t think I missed a fairway the entire day, so I knew if my irons were as good as my driver, I’d birdie 18 in the playoff,” Nimmer said.

Orischak fired a 2-under 72 to reach the playoff. He had missed a 4-foot birdie putt on the final hole, at the time not knowing the significance.

He thought his final putt was going to drop and apply some pressure to Nimmer, who had also battled his putter at times during the final round.

“Sometimes it doesn’t go in,” Orischak said.

Follow assistant sports editor Stephen Fastenau at twitter.com/IPBG_Stephen.

THE SEA PINES JUNIOR HERITAGE

Final round Sunday at Heron Point by Pete Dye

Boys

*Won on first playoff hole

T1 Bryson Nimmer 71-72–143*

T1 Andrew Orischak 73-70–143

T3 Tom Crow 74-71–145

T3 Shiso Go 71-74–145

T5 Patrick Stephenson 74-72–146

T5 Aaron Terrazas 71-75–146

T7 Doc Redman 74-73–147

T7 Benjamin Shipp 70-77–147

T9 Coleman Self 75-73–148

T9 William Voetsch 79-69–148

T11 Justin Kim 76-73–149

T11 Eric Bae 74-75–149

T11 Stephen Franken 74-75–149

T14 Matt Cheng 75-75–150

T14 Bobby Bai 77-73–150

T14 Will Miles 77-73–150

T14 Jake Carter 73-77–150

T18 Jordan Warnock 76-75–151

T18 Ryoto Furuya 77-74–151

T18 Philip Loeb 73-78–151

T21 Ritwik Jain 76-76–152

T21 Trace Crowe 77-75–152

T21 Zachary Bauchou 74-78–152

T21 Spencer Ralston 78-74–152

T21 Will Thomson 78-74–152

T21 Jamie Wilson 72-80–152

T27 Colin Bowles 77-76–153

T27 Alec Weary 78-75–153

T29 Austin Harrill 77-77–154

T29 Henry Shimp 75-79–154

T29 Logan Sowell 78-76–154

T29 David Mackey 78-76–154

T29 Aaron Walker 70-84–154

T34 Alex Smalley 76-79–155

T34 Jonathan Phillips 76-79–155

T34 Andrew Spiegler 80-75–155

T34 Youxin (Robin) Wang 81-74–155

T38 Zach Seeler 76-80–156

T38 Nicholas Cortez 77-79–156

T38 Christian Salzer 80-76–156

T38 Geuntae Kim 81-75–156

T42 Dwight Cauthen 79-78–157

T42 Preston Ball 81-76–157

44 Caleb Proveaux 82-76–158

T45 Ryan Stachler 81-78–159

T45 Min Ho Oh 83-76–159

T45 Graham Hutchinson 83-76–159

T48 Cole Patterson 77-83–160

T48 Jason Stokes 79-81–160

T48 Wil Sheppard 80-80–160

T48 Jack Parrott 80-80–160

T48 Nick Willis 82-78–160

T48 Justin Hood 87-73–160

T54 Tennoshin Ogawa 84-79–163

T54 McCullough Pickens 87-76–163

56 Blake Wagoner 88-82–170

57 Charles Musto 90-82–172

Girls

*Won on first playoff hole

T1 Ana Paula Valdes 75-73–148*

T1 Annika Bovender 74-74–148

3 Rei Nakatani 74-78–152

4 Kayla Kozak 78-75–153

5 Anna Redding 80-74–154

6 Jacqueline Twitty 77-78–155

7 Kayley Marschke 80-77–157

8 Clementina Rodriguez 82-76–158

T9 Sera Tadokoro 79-80–159

T9 Cake Phuchanbanchob 77-82–159

T11 Delaney Shah 85-78–163

T11 Claire Cameron 81-82–163

T11 Claire Hodges 79-84–163

14 Gabriela Teran 81-83–164

T15 Kathleen Sumner 83-82–165

T15 Alix Lowe 82-83–165

T17 Savanah Goodman 85-81–166

T17 Jensen Castle 83-83–166

T19 Kaitlin Milligan 89-78–167

T19 Ankita Kedlaya 80-87–167

21 Anita Uwadia 85-83–168

T22 Gracyn Burgess 87-83–170

T22 Kasidy Beckel 77-93–170

24 Victoria Huskey 87-84–171

25 Hailey Cleary 92-82–174

26 Warissara Puangcharoen 86-90–176

27 Morgan Cox 92-89–181

Read more here: http://www.thestate.com/2015/02/08/3977734_bryson-nimmer-ana-paula-valdes.html?rh=1#storylink=cpy

“A lot of folks played a part in his game.
