To ensure that all students at the JPGA are going to fulfill their golfing potential all possible elements are covered. The advantages of physical training for golf have been demonstrated by the worlds best, being physically prepared has its advantages, not just the swinging of the club aspect, but also the mental game. If you are in good shape it is highly likely that you will be able to focus and concentrate better for longer periods of time.

Students at the JPGA are personally screened so a functional training program can be designed specifically to cater to their needs. By functional, we mean that the program is designed to aid a player to swing a golf club in an improved manner. This is extremely important as a student’s physical restraints may hinder technical changes in the golf swing, so often these areas need to be addressed first.

The content of a physical program obviously depends on the student, however all programs initially work hard on stabilizing the players bodybefore introducing strength and explosive power exercises. Other components of fitness that are largely focused on during the program are balance, functional flexibility, aerobic and muscular endurance.

The JPGA encourages all students to widely participate in a range of tournaments across the Southeast. It is only in this kind of tournament experience that students can use the tools and techniques that they are taught in practice in a real life situation.

Gaining these experiences help a player truly understand themselves and how they react in a variety of situations. In future tournaments when they are tested by distractions on the course the experience has already been gained enhancing the chances of a successful outcome.

One attribute all great golfers of the past and present possess is a strong mental approach to the game. It has been argued by many top professionals that the mental game is more important than any other aspect of the sport. It is therefore vital as a junior golfer progresses their golfing skills and talents, this important aspect of golf is covered to great extent.
