How Diana Won It
Diana won this one early. She opened with an even-par 36 over a nine-hole first round, five strokes better than the next golfer. That kind of start changes how the rest of the event feels. Every shot after it was played with a lead in hand.
Day two was about holding on. Rachael Downey fired a 78, the best round of the day, and trimmed one stroke off the gap. Diana answered with a 79 and kept control to the finish.
A Win in Three Steps
A big first round does more than add up on the scorecard. It lets a golfer play freely the next day. Diana did not have to chase. She had to protect, and she did.
The Rest of the Podium
Rachael Downey of Oviedo, Florida took second at 119 (+11) with rounds of 41 and 78. Ava Epting of Tampa, Florida finished third at 134 (+26). World Golf Village played as a par 72 for the Girls 14-18 and Boys 12-13 tees, with a 72.0 rating and 125 slope, so there was little room to coast.
Looking Ahead
Congratulations to Diana, her family, and everyone at JPGA. Wins like this are built one practice session at a time, and we are proud to see it show up on the scoreboard.
